Joe Gallant's Glowing Skill Ring and The Juggling Suns will host an evening of live music at The Croosroads in Garwood New Jersey
jam-gasmic groove-dense stretch-outs on ol' faves, slurpy-sweet originals and veiled obscurities
Glowing Skull Ring is the new small-band project of Illuminati Orchestra bassist/bandleader Joe Gallant.
From a recent interview: "I wanted a hot little sound machine to stretch and experiment with the music I love, particularly the Dead, postmod jazz, latin, '60s soundtrack tunes. GSR is a great new vehicle for all that- its emphasis is on big grooves, on running the Dead's music through a Miles Davis/downtown '80s NYC vibe, darkening some classic '60s standards, digging into my originals... stretching all this great stuff out and building epic, booty-shaking jams with cool jazz, funk and space stuff on top".
GSR features hand-picked Illuminati alumni, along with well-known players from the tristate jamband scene: Alan Lerner (drums), Scott Guberman (keys/vox), Eric Escoffery (guitar/vox), Katie Pearlman (percussion/vox), Michael Eaton (sax), Joe (bass), along with featured vocalist Cindy Lopez (Half Step, Jelly Band etc.).
"These are amazing people, very sharp and subtle musically, with huge ears and chops", Gallant enthused. "The chemistry has been great, and we're all eager to build GSR's rep with the goal of next summer's festival circuit".
