Katie Pearlman Band at Floyd Fest 07.25.08

First, I was at the beer garden, not entirely because I like to drink beer, but Katie Pearlman Band and Jennie Arnau were one after the other on that stage. Katie has a nice, resonant, voice, writes pleasant-to-funky tunes -- some with her husband and keyboard player, Jeff Pearlman. She's totally at ease behind the kit while she sings, and does nearly all the talking between tunes.

She and the whole band seemed like good people, and they're playing the Emerging Artists show at Martin's tonight. If you're in Roanoke, you should be checking out at least one of those nights. Low price, high entertainment value. And I seem to remember something about tasty barbecue ribs over there.

One more thing about Katie Pearlman: Her posture behind the drums is perfect, which means she'll probably be able to play until well past the age of 101 ...
